Running Question
Amnoon Oasis to Augury Rock
I am a budding runner, and have completed most of the not very challenging runs in the game. Lots of people are against running but I do it more for fun than anything else. I can run from Camp Rankor to the top of snake dance and about half way down lornars pass, on my own. With a mate I can do the droks run, but thats only half an achievement. I also have no problem runing in Talas Chute. I also have done every run pre-desert except for a run to druids but that is because I have not tried. I might do to open the map at one point but thats for later. This is the only run in the desert that I cant do by purely running. I am a primary warrior and normally secondary monk. The problem with this run is that four spiders spawn right at the point where the desert portal is. I change to ranger for this run. I lure the devourer and kill it. Then I set three traps and lure the spiders over them and then kill them. I might have to do this twice to kill all the spiders. Then the rest of the run is easy. I have tried a strategy of luring the spiders away from the portal but they always seem to follow me straight back and kill me before I manage to open the portal. I cannot click the switches without being mobbed even when I use the Various stances I cannot activate the portal in time. The elite amity does not seem to work either, I use it and I am still getting mobbed. Can anybody suggest a strategy for neutralising the spiders short of killing them? Short of killing them. Of course part of the problem might be me being stupid and missing something obvious. Thanks Paul |

hmmm this run has never been a problem for me occasionally one of the scarabs attacks me, but i can live through it easily. just make sure you have your running skill on when ur running past the place where they pop outta the ground cuz usually for me they appear a bit before the teleporter, and if you run through it with a run skill on, they wont follow you at all and should be outta aggro range when ur at the teleporter

I tend to be sprinting past them as they are comming out of the ground and they nearly always notice me. My problem is having to stand on the portal circle long eneogh to see what order the switches light. While the spiders notice me. So my strat has been to kill them for a while now.

The first section of the passage from Amnoon to Augury, is the worst part of ANY game I have ever played. Ever.
Never ever run onto the circle of the teleport while the scarabs are following you. Try running behind it and waiting a minute or so. Sneak onto the teleport if you notice they have moved slightly further away from you, and memorise the sequence. Finally sprint to activate it, you will be attacked while doing this. Use defensive stance and just do it as quick as possible. Manuel movement should avoid you getting stuck. I reckon there would be one or two fewer mental asylams in Tyria if this passage of the game did not exist. Maybe if there was ANY chance of a gold drop I would fight it. mishkin |

Then I will have to wait for ages. I saw somebody run to spiders, run back a bit, do something, then charge past. This was all done close to teleporter. The spiders did not move. I have been trying to find what that someting was because I have tried 10 different things none of which works.
Paul. p.s I agree with you |

Activate them then sprint BEHIND the teleporter. They should loose agro and therefore stay put. Just be really careful activating the 'porter. I can show you IG if you want

heres what i do-
1)aggro them but dont use any running skills 2)run down theres this place south of the porter where no monsters are at-let the scarabs follow you 3)when your almost to the wall of the niche(or what ever you call it) turn around and sprint past them or charge 4) then activate the porter while the scarabs are far behind you(they might follow you to their ornginal spot but by then you would be on the porter circle and wont aggro them until you start activating the switches hope this helps you |

I practically invented the best system for this. Anyone can vouch for me and you can check out our website if your looking for a running specific guild.
Run all the way to the port until the spiders come out of the ground. Run south and away from the teleporter but keep the spiders close enough to you. Once you hit the southern mountain (wall) hit sprint and run to the telporters. Hit the combo as soon as you can and enter the teleport. You should make it with around 150-200 hp. Dont forget to use your endure pain and purge signet to get rid of the poison in case your slow setting off the sequence. Running north of the tp doesnt always work and it just wastes time. I complete full desert runs in 19 minutes plus an extra 3 for elonas so i can tell you from experience that this works. Also if your slow setting off the sequence, defensive stance will save your life. http://www.paradoxrunning.com/php/index.php |
